I love a good brainstorm! It starts with a single drop or two and then before you know it, it’s pouring. Puddles form. Debris gets washed away. Ideas flow. After a good brainstorm, my senses are heightened and I feel vibrant and energized. Now the real thinking can begin.

With each new project we get together as a team to brainstorm ideas. Sometimes lightning will strike, but more often than not it’s just the starting point. It prepares us for the real work that lies ahead.

In nature, true brilliance comes after the storm – an explosion of sunshine, clear blue skies, a spectacular rainbow.

So often our best ideas arrive when we are far away from the activities and pressures of work. Our subconscious minds are free to work on our behalf and deliver ideas back to our conscious minds. For some people, it happens while driving in the car, taking a shower, or going for a run. For others, it might happen in the middle of the night.

The next time you’re faced with a problem, use it as an opportunity to explore your own creativity. Brainstorm as many solutions as you can and then sit back and let your subconscious take over. Go for a walk, listen to music, or watch the clouds go by.

And, if someone tells you to get your head out of the clouds – tell them you are hard at work!
